Alpacas for income....Friendships for life..... Championships to cherish... and Fineness Forever!
One of Ohio's Finest Alpaca Farms

The AlpacaRosa is a family owned and operated 12 acre alpaca farm in Mogadore, Ohio. (less than 1 hour away from Cleveland Airport, only minutes away from Akron Canton Airport (CAK). We specialize in helping new folks get started in this profitable and rewarding industry.
Our breeding program has been awarded over 60 championships while successfully creating alpaca bloodlines that hold their baby micron fleece well into their maturity. We've coined the term "lingering fineness" to identify this fleece characteristic. Let us help you FINE some beauties!
Overlooked by most alpaca breeders and our AOBA judging system for years, "Lingering fineness" will eventually come to the forefront of most desirable alpaca traits in the world, as it so fundamentally adds years of profits from fleece sales, which is exactly the thing future fiber farmers will demand!
One of the luring aspects for new folks entering our industry is the fact that we don't have to slaughter our livestock for income. We simply harvest their fleece, year in, year out. Premiums are paid for the very finest of fleeces. Since the alpaca fleece generally loses fineness with age, it becomes economic motivating to breed-in lingering fineness traits to maintain their higher profit yielding baby fleece fineness. This focus is what sets The AlpacaRosa apart from most other alpaca farms. For example, we own 16 year old Hemingway's Elise who maintains 19 micron baby fine fleece! You would be hard pressed to find another one in the country. But the key is understanding that these extreme fineness genetics exist, then breed them into your herd.
As you browse our website, you will find that we offer a product line of AROSA custom designed tools to help make alpaca farming efficient! Also, you will view a selection of colorful alpacas on our farm.
Our 50+ alpaca herd consists of both alpaca breeds, Huacaya (Wah-ki-uh) and Suri from Peruvian / Accoyo colored bloodlines. Huacaya fiber resembles a teddy bear puffy fleece, whereas, the Suri fiber resemble high luster curly dreadlocks. We love ALL the gorgeous colors the alpaca genetics have to offer our Amazing alpaca industry.

Coming from an engineering/manufacturing background , I used my experience to develop a line of innovative herd maintenance tools and fleece processing equipment that save the alpaca breeder time and money, adding a new level of safety for the alpaca and breeder alike. My design objectives were aimed toward aiding the 1-person barn staff with ALL herd maintenance tasks, helping them to maximize efficiency.

Our daughters welcome Fire N Ice to our family
The Alpaca industry offered a great business investment opportunity for us several years ago, when we decided we needed to think about a replacement career somewhere down the road.
We started out with just 5 alpacas in our backyard. We expanded the herd over the years on a part time basis and finally became full time alpaca breeders after 6 years. Many breeders have accomplished this same dream.
This business can be a very profitable investment for you and your family as it has been for most alpaca farmers since 1985. Farm incomes exceeding $150,000 annually are common place in the alpaca industry (1995-2008). The keys to success in the alpaca business, like most other business, lay with the breeder's personal virtues of Passion , Patience, and Focus . The rest is all very easily learned through our mentorship programs.
You do not need any prior knowledge of farming or animal husbandry. Infact, most alpaca breeders come from all different walks of life. Teachers, Accountants, Professors, Machinists, Airline Pilots, Business Managers, Executive Assistants, Project Engineers, and Veterinarians are examples of those who have went on to become very successful in the alpaca industry. Age is no barrier to this industry either, as there are 15 year olds building their herds and 80+ year olds gracefully caring for their fellow Earth mates.
