Depending on the Model you purchased , the instructions vary a little. If you bought the MEANER Bean Machine with larger motor, Im making them with a hinged flip up motor to be able to clean the impeller periodically. This motor has an attached power control line that can be attached to the cart handle as shown below. First, attach the two halves of cover together with small silver screws provided ( I provided a few bigger screws for additional strength.. You will need to attach the hinge on the blower motor to the top piece with the pre-drilled holes. Once secured Attach the clamping bracket to the top, adjusting the clamp as needed to make a good seal. I preset the clamp before shipping so it should be good to go. attach the round plastic throttle block to left side of handle, keeping in mind the motor will occasionally need to be flipped up.
Remove wooden cover from box. Place on top of the Rubbermaid cart positioning the 4” hole at the handle end of the cart. Carefully Place the foam stripping down resting on cart (this is your seal, so make sure you handle the foam seal carefully). Very carefully position so that the provided (6) ¼” positioning holes are centered on the midpoint of the Rubbermaid rounded lip edge. Pay extra attention to achieving best possible centered position on the one hole at dumping edge as this position gets used frequently. Clamp into position or have 1 person securely hold in position.
You will need a drill with approx. 1/8"- 1/4" diameter drill bit to drill thru the cover into the plastic cart. Once drilled in cart, take off the cover, inspect your locations , if they are centered good, enlarge the holes to no larger than 3/8” and hammer the provided threaded inserts into these holes. If you did not center the holes very good on the cart lip, now is time to adjust your hole position to get to the center of the lip for BEST assembly. Metal threaded screw Inserts are located in the box. They pound in very easily. Now I mention at this point, if you somehow make a mistake , you can always make your own new hole positions in the wooden cover to secure the cover top. Use the 2 ½” threaded knobs to secure the cover lid to the cart. You may want to shorten one of the threaded knobs for the opening end of the top.
Original Bean Machine: Now assemble the blower by placing on top of round foam seal. Use two holes in foam to help position. Secure with grey block with 2 screws. And two 6” threaded handles that insert thru the holes of the blower handle. DO NOT over tighten, you are simply compressing foam to create a seal around the blower. Once these are secured, you can simply unscrew these hand screws and slide out the blower to use as a leaf blower. WARNING: You will need to re-attach the impeller cover to the blower before using as a leaf blower.
Place the short plastic pipe in 4 inch hole. Place the 90 degree elbow of vacuum hose on top. You will need to use some adhesive(permanent) or duct tape( you may want to modify length of wand) to attach the pick-up wand to the handle, carefully getting the proper rotation
Read directions for blower use. You will need to use proper OIL Mix in gasoline, otherwise you will destroy the motor.
To fill gas/oil tank in the Original Bean Machine, tip Rubbermaid cart into its dumping position.
After installing the top cover, attach the vertical tube, 90 degree elbow with hose, and wand. Attach bungee cord to vertical tube. Attach handle underneath cart between pedestals for dumping control.
The Husqavarna has a nice feature, a throttle lock lever. I keep the blower locked in a top rpm position. (this switch could over time vibrate into low power setting) The on-off switch always returns to ready start position. The exhaust elbow that I include can be rotated into any position. If you are sucking in grass, I point it downward. If sucking in dirt, I point it up so as not to blow the ground dirt into a plume of dust. Always keeping in mind not to point exhaust toward human eye level.
The decibel rating for this blower is 70. Ear protection is optional. Most experts start recommending ear protection at 70 decibels. Eye protection is recommended. To keep the vacuum at top suction, I decided not to use any type of fabric/paper filter to clog up with grass or straw. So, what this means is, some hay and grass will get sucked into the cart and sucked up into the impeller and shoot out the exhaust. ….. I found this to be the most effective way to keep full suction at all times to allow excellent bean vaccum. The negative is , if you are using this inside a small room and sucking up straw, some straw will exit out the exhaust. I designed this machine for primarily alpaca beans, thus the Bean Machine. However, I will continue to develop this machine and try to develop a cloth bag filter that filters grass/straw, Yet doesn’t restrict good air flow for good suction.
As the cart fills with beans, tip the cart into dumping position a few times so that the beans fall toward the front. This helps to keep the cart well balanced and will allow you to completely fill the Cart with beans.
Before dumping, loosen the thumb screw at dumping end, Insert into threaded nut on corner, pull up the lid and attach the bungee.
Sometimes your hose may clog with a big clump of beans. An easy solution can be lifting wand in air to allow gravity to help push it into the cart. ANY blockage of air flow will result in loss of power. Its possible that leaves or grass could collect in narrow opening of the wooden deflector located on underside of top cover.
